I am a relative newbie to the vegetarian lifestyle. I'm still sort of still feeling my way around. I would term myself as a lacto-vegetarian (I do consume dairy products - milk, yogurt, cheese).
My vegetarian diet began when I had the realization that my daily choices were veering more towards eating fruits, vegetables, grains and beans and not so much towards eating meat or eggs. In fact, I felt sluggish when I did eat meat or eggs.
I've been on this path for about 4 months now and I have to say that I feel incredible. I feel better now, at 40, than I ever have in my entire life.
So are there any other BLBE challengers out there that have chosen a vegetarian diet? If so, why did you choose it and what have your experiences been?

Interesting topic! I am not a vegetarian, but I am interested in your perspective (and everyone else) on this. I love beans and lentils and all those good sources of protein! Not sure I could ever go all the way with it though. But I will say that I've cut back on the amount of animal protein that I consume considerably from when I started my weight loss journey - the two seem to go hand in hand.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat considerably less red meat than I used to (hey, I grew up in Alberta, on a beef farm, what can I say, there was a lot of beef). I love chickpeas and have only recently (in the past two years, I'd say) embraced beans. I do find that when I'm training for a race I do need more animal protein, though. The beans are good, but not quite enough.
